OnApril 2nd, CCA held the National Training Seminar of ConsumerAssociations on Laws and Regulations for Consumer Rights Protection inGuangzhou. Over 100 representatives attended the training, including thesecretaries-general and department directors of consumer associations at thelevel of provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and cities independentlylisted, or municipal consumer associations at sub-provincial level, who are incharge of complaint handling. Lectures were given by executives from ConsumerProtection Bureau of SAIC and relevant experts.The key content of thisseminar was to share experiences in implementing the new version of consumer lawand study the Measures on Punishing Acts Violating the Rights and Interestsof Consumers, which was recently issued by SAIC. The training has furtherimproved the legal awareness of the officials from consumer associations whohandle consumer complaints in daily work and their capabilities of protectingthe consumer rights according to law, and played a positive role in improvingthe measures and approaches adopted by consumer associations for consumerrights protection, handling consumption-related disputes through mediation,enhancing the efficiency of consumer rights protection and performing the eightobligations bestowed upon consumer associations.
